I am a public health nutritionist (MSc, PhD) with an anthropology background. Now based in Ireland as an independent consultant, I have 25 years experience working in social development, health, nutrition and human rights, with a focus on contextual qualitative research to inform strategic interventions, policy and advocacy. I have specialized in iodine deficiency disorders, maternal and child health and nutrition, and nutrition in older people, and worked for NGOs/INGOs, bilateral development programmes, university research partnerships and UNICEF. I have lived and worked for 15 years in South Asia, with shorter assignments in Africa, including some experience in emergency and refugee situations.
